International Conference on Biotechnology and Healthcare:-

Track: Environmental Biotechnology:-

Biotechnology which helps in innovating new technologies for the sustainable environment is known as Environmental Biotechnology

Environmental Biotechnology gives the response to a chemical that helps to measure the level of damage caused or the exposure of the toxic or the pollution effect caused. It is using for the purifying the solid, liquid, gaseous wastes either by recycling to make new products so that the end product will be less harmful to the environment.

Sub Categories of Environmental Biotechnology:-
  • Biotreatment
  • Biodegradation
  • Biosensors
  • Pollution treatment
  • Mass transfer

Measuring the tension of a cell within a Molecule:

Researchers have created a new fluorescent molecule with which they were able to measure the tension of a cellular membrane, and, in the process, discover how cells adjust their surface area relative to their volume.

The volume of cells can vary dramatically. Similarly to an inflating balloon, the volume increase of growing cells pushes on the plasma membrane -- the lipid envelop that surrounds the cell. This "turgor" pressure increases the tension of the membrane, which, if left uncorrected, will ultimately cause the cell to burst. To prevent this from happening, cells have evolved mechanisms to monitor the tension of their plasma membrane.

When tension is too high, cells respond by increasing the amount of lipid in the membrane. Conversely, when tension is too low, cells remove lipid from the membrane to "tighten" it. How cells manage to sense tension and trigger the appropriate biological response has remained a mystery. It has been difficult to solve due to a lack of tools to study membrane tension within living cells.

To tackle this problem, some of the researchers have joined forces to create a fluorescent molecule to measure the tension of the plasma membrane of live cells. Using this new tool, they were then able to discover how cells adapt their surface to their volume. A premiere. These results, published in Nature Chemistry and Nature Cell Biology, pave the way for many applications, including in the detection of cancer cells that typically display aberrantly high membrane tension.

Research reveals gene regulation can be digital and stochastic:

Scientists have discovered that DNA methylation involved in gene regulation is largely digital and stochastic, with maternal and paternal copies of genes in each cell being on or off a certain fraction of time.

Every cell in our body has the same set of genes, or genome, and can potentially become any type of cell. During development, the epigenome mediates the process that leads a cell to become a skin cell or a neuron, for instance. If the genome is like computer hardware, then the epigenome is the software that turns certain genes on and others off to give rise to a skin cell and turns other genes on or off to set the cell on a path toward becoming a neuron.

Biotech Health Congress:-

Biotechnology is a technology that utilizes biological systems, living organisms or parts of this to develop or create different products.

Brewing and baking bread are examples of processes that fall within the concept of biotechnology. Such traditional processes usually utilize the living organisms in their natural form, while the more modern form of biotechnology will generally involve a more advanced modification of the biological system or organism.

With the development of genetic engineering in the 1970s, research in biotechnology (and other related areas such as medicine, biology etc.) developed rapidly because of the new possibility to make changes in the organisms' genetic material (DNA).

Research Areas in Biotechnology and Food Science:-

  • Analysis and Control of Microbial Systems
  • Biopolymers and Biomaterials
  • Food Chemistry
  • Microbial Biotechnology
Analysis and Control of Microbial Systems: Analysis of microbial systems represents a field of science denoted microbial ecology. On the other hand, control of such systems is an essential tool in the applied field of technology called environmental biotechnology.

Microbial ecology may be defined as the scientific studies of interactions and basic principles that determine the distribution and abundance of microorganisms. It is, therefore, a basic platform for analyses of ecological problems as well as a fundament for development of new technologies.

Environmental biotechnology is the application of biotechnology for solving environmental problems, both in the environment or in man-made ecosystems. In open systems, this can only be achieved by applying ecological principles and cooperating with the local microbiota based on a "join them" instead of a "beat them" strategy.

Biopolymers and Biomaterial: Marine biopolymers are highly abundant but underexploited renewable biomasses. Besides their natural biological and structural functions, the biopolymers can be tailored to new biomaterials with novel functionalities. A high level of understanding and control of the molecular architecture of biopolymers is crucial in understanding the functional properties and developing targeted functions.

Food Science: The Food Science division aims at contributing to an enhanced and safe utilization of existing and new raw materials for a sustainable food production.

Microbial Biotechnology: The Division of Microbial Biotechnology is performing basic, experimental and theoretical research on microorganisms to increase the understanding of their structure and function both at the molecular and cellular levels. The knowledge is applied to develop new biologically based production processes.

Developing dual herbicide tolerant transgenic rice plants for sustainable weed management:

The presence of weeds is a very serious problem in any agricultural system because they aggressively compete with crops for nutrients, light and other important resources. Their infestation imposes a severe challenge to crop yield, productivity and survival of plants. Among various conventional and modern strategies, chemical herbicides are the least expensive, easiest and most effective way to combat weed invasion.

Advancements in genetically modified herbicide resistance technology, which began with the introduction of the first glyphosate-resistant soybean variety in 1996, opened a new way to manage weed populations in crop fields. Since then, many important genetically modified crops that are tolerant to various herbicides have been developed and commercialized.

Most of the transgenic crops are transformed with single herbicide-tolerance genes against glyphosate, basta, HPPD, PPO or AHAS-inhibiting herbicides. With the rise in global demand for food and other agricultural products, herbicide technology has contributed greatly during the past few decades. However, the continuous overuse of a single herbicide multiple times in a growing season increases the potential risk of evolution of resistant weeds which has become a major concern in agriculture worldwide.

Healthcare and Hospital Management:

The role of healthcare professionals as being versatile is an important factor in Hospital management. During their academic internships and training, most of the hospital management professionals have exposures to all these functions.

Functions and works in the hospital are usually rotated as well as shuffled. So over the duration of an entire career, a hospital management professional would have been trained and worked in just about every area of management. Also, hospital management administrators, staff members work with strict rules of accountability.

Efficiency is a must in which all the various functions in the hospital have to be carried out very smoothly.

Although technology plays a big part to help these professionals in a few areas, they also need to be resourceful and intuitively in many instances, even without the help of Technology.

The provision of high-quality, affordable, health care services is an increasingly difficult challenge. Due to the complexities of health care services and systems, investigating and interpreting the use, costs, quality, accessibility, delivery, organization, financing, and outcomes of healthcare services is key to informing government officials, insurers, providers, consumers, and others making decisions about health-related issues.

Health services researchers examine the access to care, health care costs and processes, and the outcomes of health services for individuals and populations.
